2. Server Log Files
When you visit WorldFactly, our hosting provider automatically collects and stores information that your browser transmits. This includes:
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referrer URL
- Hostname of the accessing device
- Date and time of the request
- IP address (anonymised; full IP is not retained after processing)
This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests) to ensure the technical operation and security of the website. Server logs are automatically deleted after 7 days unless a security incident requires longer retention.
3. Analytics (Matomo β Self-Hosted)
This website uses Matomo, an open-source web analytics platform that we host ourselves at mat.werner.solutions. Your data never leaves our infrastructure and is never shared with third parties.
What we collect:
- Pages visited and time spent
- Referring website or search engine
- Approximate country (derived from anonymised IP)
- Browser and device type (aggregated)
Privacy measures:
- Cookieless tracking β no analytics cookie is set
- IP anonymisation β the last two octets of IPv4 (or last 80 bits of IPv6) are zeroed before storage
- No cross-site tracking β data is scoped to worldfactly.com only
- Data retention: aggregated statistics are kept for 13 months; raw visit logs are deleted after 90 days
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR β legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used in order to improve it. Because no cookies are set and IPs are anonymised, a cookie consent banner is not required under the Austrian Telecommunications Act (TKG 2021).
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
WorldFactly displays advertisements provided by Google AdSense (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
What this means for you:
- Google may set cookies to personalise ads based on your browsing history
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit here and other sites
- Ad data is processed by Google under their own privacy policy
Consent management:
Advertising cookies require your consent under GDPR and the Austrian Telecommunications Act (TKG 2021). Consent is managed through Google Funding Choices β Google's own Consent Management Platform (CMP). A consent dialog is shown on your first visit, giving you the option to accept or decline personalised advertising. You can change your choice at any time via the consent link in the page footer.
Additional opt-out options:
- Visit Google Ads Settings to opt out of personalised advertising across Google services
- Visit aboutads.info to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies
Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR β consent collected via Google Funding Choices CMP on first visit.
WorldFactly does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other social media tracking technology.
5. External Data Sources
Country and geographical data displayed on this site is sourced from public APIs (REST Countries, Open-Meteo, GeoNames) at build time. These requests are made from our build server, not from your browser. No personal data is transmitted to these data providers when you browse WorldFactly.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG), you have the following rights:
Right of Access (Art. 15 GDPR)

You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where analytics are concerned, you can opt out by enabling the Do Not Track (DNT) signal in your browser β our Matomo instance honours DNT.
Right to Lodge a Complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian data protection authority: DatenschutzbehΓΆrde (dsb.gv.at).
